SELLINDGE & DISTRICT PLAYING FIELDS BENEVOLENT SOCIETY
Sellindge & District Playing Fields Benevolent Society (Sellindge Sports & Social Club) was founded in 1967 by the
local community for Sellindge & District residents and is run by a Committee of Volunteers. It is financed by Membership Fees, Club Rents, Franchising of the bar, rent from the flat and fundraising events eg Boot Fairs, Bonfire Night etc. Bids are also submitted for grants when appropriate, eg for the development of the Children’s Play Area and the resurfacing of the car park. The next major cost is the resurfacing of the Tennis Courts where we are also looking to see if they could be used as a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area). Other activities include Football, Tennis, Bowls, Whist, Bingo, Darts, Pool, Crib and a range of one-off activities. There is also a function room and there is a Carvery every Sunday. Membership runs from 1 January-31 December and we would encourage residents to become Members at a cost of only £5 per year (over 16) whether or not you are a regular user.
